FIRE RATED ABOVEGROUND STORAGE TANKS

Fireguard or Flameshield? Which tank is right for your job?

Fireguard:

  • Insulated double wall construction.
  • UL 2085 listed as both a "protected" as well as a "fire-resistant" tank.
  • Fuel may be dispensed directly from the tank.
  • 2-hour fire rated.
  • Refer to Uniform Fire Code to determine tank placement in relation to other tanks, buildings, and property lines.

Flameshield:

  • Non-insulated double wall tank.
  • Tested by Southwest Research Institute as a "fire-resistant" tank.
  • Presently, fuel may not be dispensed directly from the tank.
  • 2-hour fire rated.
  • May be placed in the same locations as Fireguard tanks.

At this time, the Fireguard is the only tank allowed by the State of Alaska Fire Marshall for direct fuel dispensing.
